About UK Answers

UK Answers is an independent website that gives straight answers to the questions people in the UK search for every day, starting with pay, tax, property and employment rights.

Too many calculators are out of date, hidden behind sign-ups or buried in adverts. We aim to give you the answer first, then explain how we got there, so you can check it yourself.

What you will find here

How we keep our figures accurate

  • Rates, thresholds and caps come from official sources such as GOV.UK and Ofgem, and each page links to its sources.
  • Each page shows when its figures were last checked. Our figures were last checked on 8 October 2026, for the 2026/27 tax year.
  • We recheck everything when the tax year changes in April and whenever a Budget or announcement alters the rules.
  • Our calculators are tested against hand-worked examples. See how we check our figures.

What we are not

We are not HMRC, GOV.UK or a regulated financial adviser. Our calculators give estimates for general guidance. For decisions that matter, check with your payroll department, HMRC or an adviser. See our terms and disclaimer.

How we are funded

UK Answers is free to use. We are funded by advertising, which never changes the figures we show. Read our privacy policy to see how ads and cookies work.

Accuracy matters to us. If you think a figure is wrong, tell us and we will check it against the official source. We would also like to hear about accessibility problems.
