Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use UK Answers. This statement explains what we have built in, what we aim for and how to tell us about a problem. Last updated 8 October 2026.

Display options

Select Display (the “Aa” button) at the top of any page to change how the site looks. Your choices are remembered on your device.

  • Text size: standard, large, larger and largest (up to 175%). The layout reflows rather than scrolling sideways.
  • Colours: light (the default), dark, soft cream for less glare, and two high-contrast options.
  • Easy-read font and increased text spacing, to help people with dyslexia or low vision.
  • Always-underlined links and reduced animation.

You can also zoom with your browser, and the site works with your own browser or operating system colour settings.

What we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. In practice that means:

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline and a “skip to content” link.
  • Calculators have labelled fields, and results are announced to screen readers once you stop typing.
  • All colour skins are tested against the WCAG contrast ratios for text and controls.
  • Tables have headings, and charts always have the same information in a table.
  • Pages use plain English, clear headings and a logical order.

Known limitations

  • Wide data tables scroll sideways inside their own box on small screens, so you may need to scroll within the table.
  • Adverts are supplied by Google AdSense and are outside our direct control. If an advert gets in your way, please tell us.
  • Date fields use your browser’s own date picker, whose accessibility depends on your browser.

Tell us about a problem

If you find something hard to use, or need information in a different format, email hello@ukanswers.co.uk with the page address and what happened. We aim to reply within a few working days and will fix problems as quickly as we can.

If you are not happy with our reply, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
