Countdowns: How Many Days Until…?
Live countdowns to Christmas, Easter, the end of the tax year and other important dates.
How the countdowns work
Each countdown picks the next date automatically, so it is always counting to the right year, and it shows days, hours, minutes and seconds to go. It also gives the time in weeks and days and the number of weekdays left, which helps with planning. The dates come from the same rules as our UK dates pages.
Fixed dates and moving dates
Christmas, New Year, Halloween, Bonfire Night and Valentine’s Day are on the same date every year, so only the day of the week changes. Easter moves with the moon, which is why the Easter countdown always points to the next Easter Sunday rather than a fixed date. If you want to plan around days off work, the bank holidays page lists every one for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Money deadlines worth counting down to
Two of these countdowns are about money: the end of the tax year on 5 April, when allowances such as the ISA allowance reset, and the Self Assessment deadline on 31 January. Both are good reasons to check your figures early with our calculators.
Figures are for the 2026/27 tax year from official sources and are estimates for guidance only, not financial or legal advice. Printed from ukanswers.co.uk.
